本システムは、リッチな空燃比での運転を可能にすることと触媒の精密な温度制御のために、高圧で高精度な燃料噴射制御を実施し得るコモンレール式電子制御燃料噴射システム、電子制御EGRシステムおよび、新たに開発した排気系への燃料添加装置を装着した直噴ディーゼルエンジンをベースに、多孔質フィルタ構造体の細孔内および表面にNOx吸蔵還元型触媒を均一に担持したＸ触媒を適用したものである。
