German term

erst re.

German to English Medical Medical (general)
In a medical report, one heading goes "Gesamtfragestellung: PräOp re-Staging (erst re. wird operiert)"

As far as I can make out, the patient had been previously operated the month before the report was written. (I only have one page with very sketchy entries).

Thanks for the readings I've sent the question to the outsourcer and I'll probably have the answer Monday. (Still seems to me strange the same institution will use both R and re for "rechts")
Gisela Greenlee Mar 8, 2012:
I wonder if they left something out and the entire sentence should be "erst Restaging, dann wird operiert"
Anne Schulz Mar 8, 2012:
IMO, "rechts" could make sense also in "II Met. 9 Seg. re zentr." (metastasis centrally in right (lung?) segment #9)
Parrot (asker) Mar 8, 2012:
I don't think so Rechts is R as per lymph-node mapping (11R, 4R). From a sample document, I had thought "resection" ("II Met. 9 Seg. re zentr.") but the lowercase doesn't convince me.
Sue Shepherd Mar 8, 2012:
Context-wise, could "re." stand for "rechts"? If more than one area is to be examined/operated, then this could simply mean that the right side comes first.
