Spanish term

por tirios y troyanos

Spanish to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
Hi everyone,

Is anyone able to help me with "por tirios y troyanos"?

Many thanks

Jack

neutral philgoddard : This is correct, but I think it's a bit colourless compared to the Spanish.

by all and sundry

In other words, practically anyone.

The expression doesn't in itself imply conflict, but it is idiomatic and well known, and would provide another option.

from all sides / from all quarters

One example if you don't want to translate it literally to Tyrians and Trojans:
Desde la publicación en 1960 de Listen Yankee, Mills tuvo que batirse con tirios y troyanos y enfrentar en desigual pelea a los dueños del poder y de los grandes [...] america.cubaminrex.cu
[...] Yankee's publication in 1960, Mills had to struggle against all sides, thrown into an uneven match with the powers that be and the owners of the mass media. america.cubaminrex.cu
The questioning came from all sides/quarters/camps, etc.
