French term

rosetière

French to English Science Environment & Ecology
This is simply a label on a map-diagram pointing to the soil underneath a basin where some plants grow. I've looked in Oxford and my Petit Robert and no entry is given. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sheesh Certainly solved it. There were several other errors, so we can presume bad OCR...
B D Finch Dec 19, 2012:
Typo or not? Though I think this is likely to be a typo as per Peter's answer, "rosetière" does get some Google hits, mainly as house names. It doesn't appear in the Grand Robert, however.

I think it could be a typo for "roselière", which sounds like it could make sense in your context. When I Googled "rosetière", one of my hits was this (see page 2, fourth line down):

When I looked at the text of that link carefully, I saw that it actually reads "roseLière", which Termium translates as "reed marsh".

agree B D Finch : I'd also decided it was a typo and was about to post "reed bed".

Just an idea, but I reckon we could be dealing with a typo here. If you do a google search for 'rosetière', the handful of results turn up with documents that actually seem to be talking about a 'roselière' (reed bed).

Others beat me to the post, but at least we all seem to be agreed
