surcos mentales

Spanish to English Art/Literary Psychology Psychology Essay
Contexto (talking about the acquisition of customary behaviors and attitudes):

"Grooves" or "furrows" doesn't seem to make much sense here, except when the writer says "profundos".

Gracias,

Barbara

Discussion

Karen Dinicola Nov 22, 2014:
I am not at all convinced this is a mental rut. The outermost layer of the brain (cerebral cortex) has furrows (sulci/singular: sulcus) that continue to grow as we age, and that are influenced by our patterns of behavior.

mental paths and patterns.
Peer comment(s):

agree Karen Dinicola : Like it -- a neutral word that is not overly technical, but is still consistent with brain circuits.
