: yes, this "duplicata" is not a copy, but one of the originals // it does happen that the "original" is replicated several time, for example one "original" of a contract for the seller, another "original" for the buyer etc...

duplicata de l'original
un duplicata de l'original certifié conforme
IOW, it refers to a notarised copy of a 'duplicata' (Latin for 'replacement' or 'substitute') of the original document (which has probably been lost, destroyed or otherwise 'disappeared'). When a 'duplicata' is issued, it takes on all the characteristics of the 'original' which it replaces.
Asker hasn't informed us of the target jurisdiction/readership; 'certifié conforme' is the standard phrase used in French-speaking Belgium (and maybe elsewhere...) to qualify a notarised copy of any original (or 'duplicata' thereof).

un duplicata
Bonjour.
Je crois que le mot "duplicata" suffit à rendre qu'il s'agit d'un deuxième original.
"Deuxième exemplaire d'une lettre ou d'un acte officiel (facture, contrat, certificat, etc.) de valeur égale à l'original et pouvant en tenir lieu."
Salutations.

Discussion
One often finds expressions like « Fait en deux originaux » etc. meaning that they are duplicate originals, instead of one's being a copy of the other.
