For example, personal computers were/are a "scientific development" that revolutionized SOOO many things in our world!!! Actually, the PC (and the cell phone and the digital camera...) is a good example of a technological advance which came about as a RESULT of various "scientific developments" such as semi-conducting materials, which made the integrated circuit possible.. recall that the technology the IC replaced was the vacuum tube - a clumsy, VERY limited method of computing which took up large amounts of space before basic scientific research involving semi-conduction phenomena and materials lead to the development of "solid state" technology.
