Does anyone know the specific translation into English of this very specific railway speed.
Here is the sentence where this term is found in my text,
"Velocità massima del veicolo (laddove la norma prevede la *velocità di fiancata* a 140 km/h), in condizioni di pieno carico, HVAC spenti e frenatura dinamica"
I've found it in a set of specifications as "Si definisce velocità di fiancata, la velocità massima con la quale un veicolo può

I must admit I don't fully understand the use of "fiancata", explained in brackets below, but it's clearly the speed limit for each section of track and type of train.
Per ogni singola tratta vengono determinate quattro velocità massime, comunemente denominate velocità di fiancata (la fiancata è la ribaltina dei fascicoli orario) che i treni devono rispettare in funzione del rango di appartenenza.
