French term

cellulite génienne

French to English Medical Medical (general)
From a patient report:

I have found a number of descriptions of 'cellulite génienne'; it originates in the premolar teeth, and causes swelling in the cheek behind the labial commissure of mouth. However, I cannot find a term that matches in English.

Thank you!

However, on this French site:
http://www.medespace.fr/Facultes_Medicales_Virtuelles/les-ce...

Trismus
Otalgies reflèxe

so at least this covers the anatomical areas for "génienne"

Yes it refers to the chin but when used for the oral cavity the chin can no longer be the reference and it is usually located on the lips.

Hi,
Gosh, I thought I would bring this to everyone's attention. Although I have found many references indicating that "génienne" relates to the "cheek", Look here:

left-sided cellulitis of the inferior aspect of the face/cheek

According to this site the région génienne = joue i.e. the cheek

Also here - http://slideplayer.fr/slide/4107745/ - la région génienne -
a presentation describing the anatomy of the cheek.

In English 'jugal' is the proper anatomical term for the cheek but I can't find much reference to jugal cellulitis, though it might be an option. So I wonder if there is an exact commonly used equivalent term in English. Hence my rather long-winded descriptive answer!
