How would be the best way to translate rocznk in these 2 sentences for American English?
1. Nierówności oświatowe w II RP były ogromne, np. do gimnazjum szło ok. 7% rocznika, a 80% przyjętych stanowiły dzieci przedsiębiorców, właścicieli ziemskich i przedstawicieli wolnych zawodów.

Discussion
We don't know if the 'year' here is a calendar year or Sept. 1-Aug. 31
Looking over the 5 suggestions so far. Answers proposed with the words "graduates/ graduating" do not fit the 2 sentences, as we are only given information about entering/attending school and nothing about graduating or finishing school. "Cohort" for my ears, just doesn't seem to fit.
I think what works best for these 2 sentences is "a given age group"
"Pewnie tak to widział autor tekstu, ale..."
Ja zawsze staram się uwzględniać kontekst, czyli m. in.:
punkt widzenia autora tekstu (for it, against it, czy tylko opis bez opinii) - o ile potrafię sobie wyobrazić stanowisko autora względem zagadnienia;
@Jerry
I'll be grateful for your comment on our discussion.
Tekst dotyczy II RP, czyli lat 20 i 30.
"7% absolwentów szkoły podstawowej z roku 1928", to mielibyśmy jasność.
A group of people sharing a common temporal demographic experience who are observed through time. For example, the birth cohort of 1900 is the people born in that year. There are also marriage cohorts, school class cohorts, and so forth. - http://www.prb.org/Publications/Lesson-Plans/Glossary.aspx
