Discussion

Cécile A.-C. (asker) Dec 10, 2018:
shoot studs is the chosen term. Phil, if you could put it as an answer, I woould gladly award the points to you.
Tony M Dec 10, 2018:
@ Asker Sadly, as Phil only submitted a reference comment, which is specifically NOT for points, you cannot choose his answer or award him points.
You could always invite him to submit a specific answer so you can; and it would I'm sure be helpful to future users if you were to share with us what the final solution was you used?
Cécile A.-C. (asker) Dec 10, 2018:
I choose Phil's response to have best helped me. Points should go to him. Don't know how to award them to Phil.

the use of any sort of nail gun

"Spit" is a brand name for a particular make of nail gun ("pistolet à clous"). As it's best to avoid brand names and as there's no reason to suppose these are studs (see previous question) rather than nails, I'd use the term "nail gun". "Any sort of" would allow that to cover stud guns too.
