Validation for wedges, blocks and cones
For wedges the validation is performed solely in water.
The validation is focused on central square fields with a few exceptions.
Validation of Varian standard wedges shows deviations between RayStation 8B computed dose and measured dose in the build-up region of depth dose curves, especially for higher energies.
This is important to be aware of and special care should be taken when verifying and evaluating such beam models.
Block validation is performed by comparing RayStation 8B to Eclipse (Varian) and Oncentra (Elekta) returning gamma distributions within the acceptance criteria and as part of the IAEA test suite.
