Personally, I instinctively read it thus:
"on the frontline in the research and development teams to protect against cyberthreats"
It seems to me that 'teams' belongs more logically with 'where they are working' — and one might hope there would not be any cyberthreats in the R&D teams — unless they have been infiltrated by hackers!
I really can't see any logic to why one would have 'cyberthreats' in 'teams'?
So I would tend to interpret it as per my proposed word order revision.
