English term

door dike

English to French Tech/Engineering Patents refrigerator, cabinet, door liner, rail
door dike 150 is provided at the rear of the outer door 130. The door dike 140 may form the rear surface of the main door.

The door dike 140 may be referred to as a door liner. A gasket may be mounted at the door dike 140. The gasket is coupled to the cabinet so as to seal the gap therebetween to prevent leakage of cool air.

Accordingly, the main door 100 may be formed by coupling the outer door 130 for forming the front surface and both side surfaces of the main door 100, the door dike for forming the rear surface of the main door 100, and the cap décoration parts 160 and 170 for forming the upper and lower surfaces of the main door 100 to one another. A space may be formed at an inner part of the above coupled configurations. The space is filled with a foaming agent.

Discussion

Tony M Jul 19, 2019:
@ Asker This 'dike', as its name implies, acts in some way as a kind of 'barrier'. It does not have a primary function to fasten, hold, or retain anything

Door dike - Definition

This is a projection around the edge of a door.

The first citation below is from The Indian Standard GLOSSARY OF TERMS USED IN REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING ICS01.020;23.120;27.120

http://www.questin.org/sites/default/files/standards/is.3615...
"Door Dike—A door dike is a projection on the door which extends into the refrigerated compartments(s) and which functions primarily as a barrier to minimize heat flow to the interior of the cabinet."

https://patents.justia.com/patent/5040857
"Another problem arises when the inside surface of a refrigerator door within the perimeter of the gasket is provided with a door "dike" system. The door dike is in the form of a molded projection which extends outwardly from the inner surface of the door for defining shelf and storage within its perimeter. The dike extends inwardly into the refrigerated compartment formed by the food cabinet liner when the door is in its fully closed position. Since a conventional pivotal hinge assembly for a refrigerator requires that the door open and close about a fixed pivotal axis, it is required to radius or form the peripheral wall region of the dike inwardly in order to permit the door to open and close because of the projecting dike."

"A refrigerator may include a cabinet disposed at a storage compartment, a door hinged to the cabinet and configured to open and close at least a portion of the storage compartment, the door including an outer door defining a front appearance of the door, a door dike defining a rear appearance of the door, and an inner space located between the outer door and the door dike, "

Before you can translate a term, you need to understand the source text, which you have failed to do.
agree Tony M : Yes, that's exactly the function and purpose of the 'door dike' — and any relationship with 'retaining' the door is purely fortuitous.
