Offering 'large' as an entry for 'großkörnig' only suggests that the plant itself is large - or perhaps even the pods on those plants.
The accepted consensus, on the other hand, is that only the individual beans are to be deemed 'large'.

"großkörnige" describes the beans, so I think "large" makes more sense than "coarse-grained". I've never heard of beetle beans, so I suspect that this is Austrian English rather than English English. I suggest using English English, i.e. runner beans.

agree Armorel Young : Yes on both counts - these are called "Styrian scarlet runner beans" (I encounter them frequently) and "large" does the job as we are talking about the individual beans, not the size of the pod.
