@Richard Please post the sentence where the phrase appears.
AllegroTrans Mar 3, 2020:
Asker Thank you. So is your term a heading before the sentence you have now posted? Is this an ancillary order to a divorce decree?
Richard Ramirez (asker) Mar 2, 2020:
En nombre de la Republica y por autoridad de ley se homologa en todas y cada una de sus partes lo acordado por las partes con respecto a las instituciones familiares, ciudadanos xxxxxx....
AllegroTrans Mar 2, 2020:

Spanish term (edited): (Ven) Homologación (de acuerdo sobre) instituciones familiares
Selected

(Ven: Judicial) ratification of (agreement on) domestic arrangements

Homologation: the court rubber-stamps an agreement made between the spouses, parents or other guardians, as in EN Common Law countries.

institución can also mean an appointment of a party: instituciones familiares > family-related appointments or domestic vs. (deeds of) family arrangement that, in England & Wales, could denote an agreed variation of a Will made and not yet admitted to probate.

PS an audio-typist from Essex, in our erstwhile translation office in Central London, and who claimed to be 'prudish' used to be in the habit of the typo of 'gratification' for ratification.
Example sentence:

HOMOLOGACIÓN DE ACUERDOS SOBRE INSTITUCIONES FAMILIARES Homologación de acuerdos sobre Instituciones Familiares

agree philgoddard : Or you could just say "ratification of custody".

Thanks, but no. Again, split custody e.g. legal custody (decision-making on the religion & education etc.) vs. day-to-day, physical care & control are far narrower than the (BrE) ancillary relief (AmE) accessory measures package possibly alluded to.

Mercès, gracias and thank ye/tapadh leat!
agree AllegroTrans : If my local district judge saw your "rubber stamping" comment he would send you to the cells for 24 hours

Thanks. I'm sure that your local district judge is more into leather, as were the QC recorders whom I have known and who used to frequent well-known pubs in Earl's Court.

Homologation (of) family institutions

Although I'm not really sure what is being asked here. The query term "instituciones familiares" literally translates as "family institutions"...
And "homologation" in English has synonyms such as "authorization", but in a dry legal text like this, I'd simply use the cognate.
Example sentence:

Family institutions are all very well in theory...

LABOUR MARKET, WELFARE STATE AND FAMILY INSTITUTIONS:

Peer comment(s):

agree Lydia De Jorge : Based on limited context, this is correct. Saludos!
