French term

conjugué de lapin anti-Ig de cobaye

French to English Medical Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-) UK English
"un ELISA sandwich utilisant un conjugué de lapin anti-Ig de cobaye couplé à une peroxydase"

I have provisionally translated this as: "rabbit anti-guinea-pig Ig conjugate". However, when checking that by Google, I have found "rabbit anti-guinea pig IgG conjugate". Should I add the extra G? Is this an error in the source text?

Agree with Marc-André, though Google does predominantly present IgG. I would leave a comment for the agency to ask the end client/draw their attention to it.

@Marc-André Thanks for clarifying that. I accepted this translation because the agency assured me it wasn't technical and my, rather too brief, scan of the files didn't indicate that was wrong. I now think they should have got a translator with some specialist knowledge of the field. Still, I hope to make a better job of it than the (probably in-house, non-linguist) translation of some of the reference files they sent me, which are clearly not by a native-speaker of English.
Marc-André Laniel Sep 4, 2020:
Keep Ig Since they only mention immunoglobulin and don't specify which type, you can't assume it's a typo. It could not only bind to IgG, but also to IgM and IgA, so restricting the translation to only IgG would be inaccurate and probably wrong.
