psychology - biofeedback
Als Einstieg für die oftmals ungewohnte langsame Atmung wird dieser Taktgeber nach der ersten Sitzung auf 6 bpm eingestellt und nach der zweiten Sitzung, wenn die RF bestimmt wurde, auf diese angepasst.
and later:
This is about relaxation therapy with biofeedback to regulate the patient's breathing and heart rate (part of the procedure used is an app, https://breathball.com). I first called it a "timer," then decided that "metronome" might be more precise, even though that usually refers to music. I've seen the other Kudoz entries for Taktgeber, but they are not in this field. What I'm looking for is what you'd call a metronome if you were a psychologist using biofeedback, not an engineer making circuit boards.
TIA!

Note from asker:
Thanks. Pacer might do, but pace-maker definitely not. It very strongly evokes the "pacemaker" that is implanted in cardiac surgery. |

Comment: "Thanks to all. I think all the suggested answers would work, but this seems the most straightforward."

tempo regulator
I'm throwing this out there as an experienced Yogini and former breath therapy client.
There are varying tempi in all areas of relaxation/meditation/contemplation practices, the most common is the extended exhaltion, twice as long as the inhalation. This requires practice in the tempo a given method dictates.
At the end of a practice, you continue to breathe "at your own tempo."

beats per minute is the common count for prana breathing and can be adjusted according to a person's capacity. Maybe beat regulator would also work

Having looked at that, I'm guessing it's a feature of the app, in which case you could call it a timer.
The reference to "dieser Taktgeber" implies there's key information in the previous sentence, which you haven't included.
Is this software, ie part of the app, or hardware? If it's an electronic device, but you don't want to call it a metronome, you could say clock, or clock generator. That said, most metronomes these days are digital.
