Hi, I am currently working on a Colombian Spanish text but am stumped by the term 'rosca'. In this example, a parent is talking about her hopes for her daughter.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Here is my interpretation for the UK, though it can be translated in several ways.
'...maybe because nowadays it's a case of having connections, and if you're not in the loop you won't get/can't find a job'.

Hello, everyone.
I was wondering if there's any equivalent expression in English to "tener rosca con" or "estar en la rosca."
Both expressions are extremely popular in Colombia, and refer to the fact that you are privileged over others just by knowing someone important. Let me give you guys an example:
A: ¡Es totalmente cierto!

You're right. It shouldn't be allowed, though when I was a young girl, my dad used to tell me that it's not what you know that's important, it's who you know.
