Italian term

repertorio

Italian to English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama cinematography technique

Discussion

Alicia Eastman (asker) Jan 9, 2023:
Final Draft That's the software I was working on my script in. I am specialized in this field. In any event, I do not believe this discussion is serving the purpose of this post anymore and we should not make it hard for colleagues to navigate it in future with many messages. If you wish to continue a debate, feel free to email me.

'Please look at examples' I do lots of jobs in FinalDraft, the screenplay-writing software. This uses a specific widely accepted layout, but you can employ any terminology you like, within reason.

translation found: FOOTAGE (ARCHIVAL) Thanks everyone for the great input which put me on the right path to find the correct translation above! Screenplay terms are very specific. For material retrieved from archive, the correct way to insert it in a screenplay is with the above words, archival in bold type.
Alicia Eastman (asker) Jan 7, 2023:

Ok thanks. I had missed them.
agree Adrian MM. : archival footage found by the asker is not very different in substance and cinematographic principle.

Repertorio

I think we are talking about a sequence of films or short videos.
Archive images are short archive footage, concerning important personages and events.

Archive footage is mentioned in the link above:

Stock footage, and similarly, archive footage, library pictures, and file footage is film or video footage that can be used again in other films.

Note from asker:
No, this is definitely not it. I know what you are talking about, but it's a second meaning of this word. This is what happens when you are watching a movie and all of a sudden in the movie they show a bunch of shots that, for example, are in different places and/or different times.
Dandamesh, sorry I was too hasty. Your understanding of what they meant in the end was correct. However unfortunately the term proposed is not screenplay terminology. Too bad Giovanni Guarnieri did not answer, since he came closest with Archive footage.

agree FPC : Yes , maybe 'file footage' if non specific (ex.: images of people cheering a personality added to a document about Pelé) , 'archive' if specific (ex.: images of crowd actually cheering Pelé at a World Cup Final in a doc about that specific World Cup)
