University transcript
I have
PS: Explorative Datenanalyse
and
VL: Einführung in die Betriebswirtschaftslehre
underneath each other on a university transcript.
I believe VL = Vorlesung = lecture, but PS? Privatstudium perhaps?

PS: This is unfortunately a rush job, but I will appreciate answers even after I have had to hand in, for my own knowledge.

Proseminar
PS is the abbreviation for Proseminar which is a special type of seminar. In particular, when it comes to attendance.
Example sentence:
Das Proseminar startet nächste Woche.

Discussion
As for Proseminar, I can't remember having seen this even once during my time at uni and I didn't know this was used in English (which is why, apologies to Kartik, I deleted my agree, as I initially thought this was a DE-DE question).
Still not sure how many people will understand what's meant here, but I did find a few UK references:
http://www.drps.ed.ac.uk/23-24/dpt/cxphil11230.htm
https://www.bbk.ac.uk/courses/modules/sspl/SSPL160S7
https://pureportal.coventry.ac.uk/en/publications/diversity-...
However, the last one seems to be a "doctoral proseminar," the second requires students to hold a presentation. Neither seems to match the explanations in DE.
Best wishes
I wasn't familiar with 'proseminar'. Webster's says 'a course of study like a graduate seminar but often open to advanced undergraduates.'
Typing in the term there and adding site:proz.com will yield much better results. Has been that way for years, unfortunately.
Best of luck!

Something like this here maybe:

But since I also have little time, I can only provide these few references right now.
Best of luck!
