Arabic term

رعية

Not for points Arabic to English Other Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs birth certificate
This term stands alone in a 1940s Egyptian birth certificate. In the French version "sujet" is used. It follows the blank space for "father's name" and precedes the blank space for "nationality."
Although the child is Christian, the translation "parish" doesn't seem to fit here because of the location of the term in the document (it precedes the spaces for "religion" and "address").
None of the obvious English terms (subject, parish, citizen) seem appropriate. Thank you in advance.
