Arabic to English Law/Patents Law (general) Legal

I see this word coming up a lot in Arabic legal documents, and I am not sure whether it should be translated as "maintain," "assert," "insist on," "plead for," "demand," "request," etc... Is there an established way of translating this in legal documents?

Here is the sentence:

تتمسك الشركة المدعية الأولى بعدم اختصاص القضاء الكويتي بنظر الدعوى لوجود شرط التحكيم

Another example:
وهذا الدفاع الجوهري تمسكت به المدعى علها الثانية في مذكرة دفاعها لمقدمة في جلسة

Another example (from same document):
تتمسلك المدعى عليها الأولى - على سبيل الاحتياط - برفض الدعوى
