English term
Acid regurgitation — acid reflux
English to Dutch
Medical
Medical: Health Care
HIV/AIDS medication ...
This is listed as a side-effect of the HIV/AIDS drug Indinavir. I know what this means in English (it is not outright vomiting), but instead it is the backing up of acidic stomach contents into the esophagus. In English medical dictionaries, this is a term dealt with as a specific entry, but my Van Dale online dictionary only gives me translations for "regurgitation" and "reflux". Is there a specific Dutch phrase as in English? I did look up the term on PROZ before posting this question. There were no entries.

Comment: "Barend ... Thank you very much for your response. From further research, and from the context of the original text, it would appear that your first two suggestions corroborate the intent of the English text."
Discussion
"gastro-oesofageale reflux" is the most technical and "brandend maagzuur" the most colloquial term
the symptoms are thought to be the result of a dysfunction of the so-called gastroesophageal junction, that normally works like a sphincter but allows reflux of gastric juice in this case
good luck!
