wicking properties

English to French Marketing Marketing Sportswear
XXX-Tech’s first layer of defence is YZY-Shield™, which prevents most water from ever making contact with the inner layers. Next, a microporous membrane provides the primary and most impervious layer of defense by completely blocking the passage of water molecules into the fabric. ABC™ membranes are 100% air permeable, which allows moisture vapors to escape. This superior breathability keeps you dry from the inside out. Lastly, lining materials protect the XXX-Tech membrane from underneath, while adding additional **WICKING PROPERTIES**. Waterproof. Breathable. Guaranteed.

I don't have that but by contrast, when I look down the list of options, there are things like "English-French & French-English" - pourquoi faire simple quand on peut faire compliqué !
Tony M May 7, 2009:
No, I've still got it The new search screen still includes 'search reverse language pair', on the left, beneath the box for selecting the source language.
polyglot45 May 7, 2009:
but that option seems to have vanished the site is so hellbent on improvement that options are fast disappearing - unless I have missed a huge trick?
Tony M May 7, 2009:
Glossary The term 'wicking' has certainly come up before, possibly in FR > EN, so I feel sure a 'both-ways-round' glossary search might bring up something useful for you.

EX – This composite fabric provides thermal insulation while keeping water out and letting perspiration pass through. A water-impermeable insulating material is sandwiched between two layers of a wicking fabric, which are connected to each other by wicking threads that pass through the insulating material. The outer wicking layer may also be covered by material that is water-impermeable but water-vapour-permeable. The major application for this fabric is boots and clothing intended for use in cold and wet conditions. Source, fiche 1, Exemple d’utilisation 1 - wicking fabric
