English term

ground clearance

GBK English to Latvian Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks
Definition from autoevolution:
Ground clearance is the measurement from the lowest-hanging point under a vehicle (usually a differential, part of the suspension or the exhaust system) towards the ground. A high ground clearance allows a vehicle to drive more easily off-road or through heavy snow without damaging the underbody.
Example sentences:
The decks are also designed with a shallow breakover angle. This allows us to load cars with low ground clearance such as race or rally cars. (Locargo)
It is important for 4x4s and other off-road vehicles to have sufficient ground clearance when being driven off the beaten track. Irregular or unpredictable terrain can damage the underside of the car if the ground clearance is too low. Many off-roaders are fitted with underbody protection as a result. (Parker's)
Aside from the high approach and departure angles and ground clearance, the H2 was an early showcase of brake-based four-wheel traction control and variable throttle progression, in addition to the more common locking center and rear differentials. (cars.com)

klīrenss

Definition from LZA TK:
Atstatums starp spēkratu tiltu vai transmisijas zemāko punktu un balstvirsmu. Klīrenss ir viens no spēkratu pārgājības ģeometriskajiem raksturotājiem.
Example sentences:
(iauto.lv)
Šī elektroniskā sistēma optimizē griezes momenta sadali starp riteņiem, balstiekārtas regulējumu un klīrensu atkarībā no ceļa seguma. Pagriežot viduskonsolē nelielu kloķīti, vadītājs izvēlas vienu no pieciem darbības režīmiem: bāzes (parastiem ceļiem), slideniem segumiem (zāle, grants vai sniegs) vai vienu no trim bezceļiem – dubļi, smiltis, akmeņi. Katrā režīmā tiek izvēlēts piemērotākais klīrenss, dzinēja atsaucība, slīpuma turēšanas režīms, elektroniskās pretizslīdēšanas sistēmas darbība un, protams, arī pieskaņota transmisijas darbība.
