Crimp - The physical compression (deformation) of a contact barrel around a conductor to make an electrical and mechanical connection to the conductor.

Crimping - A pressure method of mechanically securing a terminal, splice or contact to a conductor.

But without knowing what is being crimped, it\'s difficult to give you a good definition. In general, crimping means to compress something or connect by squeezing together.

1. to cause to become wavy, bent, or pinched: as (a) to form (leather) into a desired shape (b) to give (synthetic fibers) a curl or wave like that of natural fibers (c) to pinch or press together (as the margins of a pie crust) in order to seal
