Source text - English “It rarely happens that designers create absolutely new product typologies – I mean objects that are an invention in themselves, like the MP3 player some years ago. Many product typologies do not change because the human shape and ergonomics remain constant. So it’s not the chair as an archetype for seating that is moving forward. Rather, all the factors around the development and use of chairs are in permanent evolution: new technologies, new materials, space and surroundings, accompanying products and most important, the habits of users. A vital part of the designer’s work, therefore, is the creation of new designs of existing product archetypes. What I am very interested in, however, is the concept of "prediction": when a product is presented to the market it has to be exciting, absolutely new and somehow mind-blowing. As industrial development periods are sometimes 2, 4 or even 6 years (in the case of the automotive industry) – designers must have the ability to forecast advances in technology and the most appropriate responses in form and use of materials. If you want to make a difference you cannot rely on existing trends – you have to make your own mind up about the future.”

I am a professional freelance translator working full time since 2001 and a native speaker of European Portuguese. Therefore, I work exclusively with this language variant.
I am highly experienced in several subjects ranging from IT, computers, websites, client support systems, and home appliances, to marketing, design and architecture, tourism, history, arts and political and administration issues.
Professionally, I try to maintain a consistent high quality in my work and in order to do that I work with just a few clients and I ensure I can meet the deadlines when accepting work. Accepting every work proposal just because I'm a freelance worker does not correspond to my professional commitment or to what I believe our profession should be. In fact, most of my clients have been working with me for 10 years or more. Some of the reasons for that are: (i) I'm good working as a team (which also includes not trashing other people's work to get jobs or accepting that from colleagues); (ii) I try to privilege quality over income (in most situations I try to accept interesting jobs that add to my professional know-how rather than focusing in well paid jobs); (iii) I don't accept jobs I am not qualified to do; (iv) I offer the same professional attitude I demand from my clients - on-time deliveries, politeness and respect for the professional and personal circumstances of each parties.
