PROFESSIONAL CAREER
March 2005-Present - Spanish Language Specialist at a well-known e-commerce company in the Silicon Valley, California. - Tasks: translating and reviewing XSL, XML and HTML text to ensure the Spanish site quality. Maintaining terminological database, coordinating work with vendor translators.
February 2001-March 2005 - Linguistic QA Engineer at EFI (www.efi.com), a large color printing software manufacturer in the Silicon Valley, California. - Tasks: verifying the final functional and linguistic quality of their products in English, Dutch, French and Spanish.
May 2000-February 2001 Sabbatical time.
May 96-May 2000 - Head of the Spanish department at International Software Products, a Dutch software translation company (www.isp.nl) . - Tasks: creating and maintaining glossaries, looking for new terminological resources, translating, reviewing software, online help, documentation and marketing material, and coordinating the work within the department and with freelancers. I leave the company in order to spend some time with my family and more freely look for a position in the United States.
February 1995- February 1996 - Project Leader at AFS Traducciones, a software translation agency from Madrid (Spain). Tasks: coordinating a team of translators and editing the final translation, plus the responsibility for the final product.
June 1993 - Project leader at TLT Ibérica.- Tasks: coordinating of a team of translators, the editing of their work and the contact with the customer.
August 1992 - Localization specialist at TLT Ibérica, a software translation agency from Madrid (Spain) specialized in technical translations (computing, communications, etc.).- Tasks: translating and adapting computer software from English into Spanish.
In these years I have translated Borland’s Visual dBASE, Autodesk's Map, Mechanical Desktop 3 & 4 and Genius, Adobe Acrobat 3, 4 & 8, Adobe GoLive 5, Adobe PageMill 2 and 3, TSI LapLink 2000, WRQ's Reflection for IBM, Adobe and Minolta printer drivers, IBM internal courses on networking, financial applications from Oracle, QSP and CODA, Primax scanning applications, Sony photoediting software, and other programs. I've been involved in the translation of all components of the products, from the software to the online help, the printed documentation and the marketing material.
