Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) Descripci�n de una ley
"con el objeto de ocultar o encubrir su origen ilícito o ayudar a eludir las consecuencias jurídicas de tales ***hechos punibles***, será sancionado con pena de 5 a 12 años de prisión y de 100 a 200 días de multa”.
No encuentro en los kudoz glossaries el equivalente de "punible", gracias por la ayuda. !

it is an act that is punishable by law.

As the other entries present, the act/deed is a punishable act, but you usually refer to said acts/deeds as illegal, unlawful, or punishable by law, especially in the context you give (where jail time and fines are given)
