Herzlichen Dank für die vielen kreativen Ideen und für die große Auswahl (kicherkicher) an Vorschlägen. Wieder mal habe ich gemerkt, wie wichtig es ist, soviel Kontext wie moeglich zu geben (Zielgruppe!, Kreativitätsfreiraum!, Mehrsprachige Texte! etc) - und es tut mir leid, dass meine Erklärungen so kleckerweise kamen.
Tradescas Vorschlag war der für mich naheliegendste, Cilians der witzigste, Olafs der vielseitigste, Francis der kreativste, Kathrins der scharfsinnigste, Aniello der geschäftstüchtigste, Michaela der geschickteste, laras der pfiffigste ...und LittleBalus{Die richtige Wahl ist das Entscheidende] gefiel mir am allerbesten. Sie kriegt die Punkte und ich hoffe, keiner ist traurig.

Ich sehe das mit der Entscheidung auch so. Auf die richtige Entscheidung kommt es an bzw. Treffen Sie die richtige Entscheidung, wenn es darauf ankommt oder Ausschlaggebend ist, sich richtig zu entscheiden etc. etc

Danke für die vielen tollen Vorschläge!
Die Broschüre richtet sich an Einwanderer aus vielen Ländern, wobei die Deutschen, die nach Kanada auswandern und sich an diese Agentur um Hilfe wenden, zum allergrößten Teil natürlich weder Flüchtlinge, noch sonderlich arm sind. Das sollte bei der Formulierung speziell dieses Slogans m.M.n. auch berücksichtigt werden, denn viele der angebotenen Leistungen werden von den Deutschen naturgemäß gar nicht nicht benötigt (z.B. Hilfestellung bei der Integration in eine neue Kultur). Deshalb war/bin ich mir auch nicht sicher, ob Auswah/Wahl so optimal ist (da dies die Wahl zwischen verschiedenen Leistungen impliziert), oder ob man bei der Übersetzung von “choice” eher auf die Entscheidung für die richtige Agentur abzielen sollte?

Asker: Clarification: It’s all about the target readership. I think the (actually pretty neat) challenge is to find a truly ‘localized’ translation, i.e. a wording that speaks to the German reader/service user, while not straying too far from the meaning/connotations of the English original. IMHO some of the very inspired suggestions here wouldn’t be appropriate for German readers since they focus on an aspect that – for German immigrants - simply is not as relevant as it is, let’s say, for Vietnamese immigrants. To give you an example: I imagine that for a political refugee in Canada, an appropriate translation might focus on the word ‘choice’ (maybe because of the lack thereof in his/her home country). For Germans immigrating to Canada on the other hand, having a ‘choice’ has completely different connotations --- and a good translation should reflect that. Since the English slogan will most likely be shown on the cover _ side by side_ with the translations into a few other languages, the German version should ideally not be too “creative”. Sorry, I know… I’m a tad obsessive. Der Teufel steckt eben wie so oft im Detail.
