Spanish term

¿Cómo quieres que me sienta?

Spanish to English Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
Pensé en "how do you want me to feel today", pero no me suena para nada.

Discussion

Anton Baer Aug 4, 2006:
The 'right' answer has nothing to do with how many people anywhere would say 'How do you expect me to feel?' The author didn't say that. It's his voice, not the voice of Google.
Anton Baer Aug 4, 2006:
The author said 'want'. The translator changed that to 'expect'. It's not the same thing. 'Want' is much more of an accusation that the person speaking feels extremely manipulated -- and has just realised it.
SandraV Aug 4, 2006:
No te disculpes Jairo. No pasa nada.

Un abrazo

Sandra

Anton Baer Aug 2, 2006:
Is 'How do you want me to feel?' not exactly what the author is saying? I don't think there are 'options' here. The author probably weighed up all the options and chose the one closest to his intent.

How do you think I feel?

this is probably no better than "How do you expect me to feel?", but is a good, colloquial alternative, probably a little more angry/hostile... depends on the tone of the text. When spoken, the emphasis is on the word "think".

How would you LIKE me to feel/How do you SUGGEST if feel?

This would be said by someone who is overwhelmed by the situation, and the words in caps are stressed.
