English translation: life imprint

English translation:life imprint
Explanation:
...all forms of life imprint and possibilities for shaping one's own life

http://www.boloji.com/spirituality/093.htm

this would be a possibility, although I am not very sure about 'life imprint' maybe it should be life imprinting, in any case I am of the opinion that there should be a distinction in the translation between the outside influence 'Prägung' and the inside influence 'Gestaltung'

Donal, you are right, it does sound "rocky". Another way to get the idea across, that we are free to shape our lifes as we please - or have them shaped, would be, to say '...choose between all types of influences and possibilities for shaping one's own life

I was leaning toward "imprint" as well but have to agree with Donal, it just doesn't seem to be a proper English term. I love your new version though and it also fits the context of a later sentence in the same text, so that's what I'll use.
Thank you!

Explanation:
The latter part of the sentence could then be: "...choose freely between all the various ways of life and all the various ways of individually shaping our lives."

I interpret the distinction between "Lebensprägung" and "Lebensgestaltung" here as being between an established way of life (e.g. eine "christliche Lebensprägung") and the personal shaping of one's own life (not following any pre-established pattern).

neutral  DonM: I'm not convinced for the simple reason that "life imprint" is not an expression in English (not even in esoterica - in the link you provide, "imprint" is a verb) whereas "Lebensprägung" is in German.

life idiosyncrasy

Explanation:
The best single-word translation would be "character", in the psychological meaning of an acquired style of interaction with a medium, but since we need to respect the wordplay involving "life", this could do.
