So basiert eine Version von Vier verschränkte mengengleiche Farbgruppen (Büchergilde 1973) auf den beiden komplementär gespannten Paaren Ultramarinblau und Orangegelb sowie Violettrot und Gelbgrün. Zugleich wird dieser Gegensatz **überspielt** von der optischen Verbindung der Farben Ultramarinblau und Violettrot bzw. Gelbgrün und Orangegelb durch ihre einander angeglichenen Farb- und Lichtintensitäten. Blau/Violett in der oberen Bildhälfte wirkt deutlich dunkler als Gelb/Grün in der unteren. Dadurch liegen zwei ziemlich kompakte Komplexe einander gegenüber, die sich an ihrer mittigen Grenze verzahnen. Doch mit einer einfachen Winkelform greifen sie wirkungsvoll über in die andere Hälfte."

... Still pondering the ripples of "über" + "spielen" in the term. My sugg.'s of the same order as Beth's but with ideas of "soothing" behind it (though "to palliate" might be too much unless the simultaneous contrasts hurt that much!) Maybe "soothe" itself would do (if that term not yet patented by global chem. player). Even something literal? - "(the softer effect of...) ... plays over..."?
