"which is simply a declaration of its balance"....? Can't quite get my head around this bit.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Laura - thanks for your suggestion. I think I can safely say that it is not a play on words with the name of the wine.

is perfectly balanced

Explanation:
Sorry, sticking to my basic rule, simplest might be best... IS seems ample enough to me...

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Catherine - yes, I hear you, but I feel that the language here is so fruity, rich and powerful (like the wine!) that reducing it to its simplest form might be throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

agree  Ben Lenthall: One looks for the word symmetry but balance doesn't necessarily mean symmetrical. 'is perfectly balanced' captures the sense perfectly

the mere mention [...] conveys/portrays/expresses [+ more ideas below]

Explanation:
I feel that this is where "simple" comes in, although it's hard to convey elegantly:

___________

...its balance alone is a great indicator of its...
...its balance alone is sufficient evidence of its...

the mention of its balance alone is sufficient to convey/portray/express its ...

the very/mere mention of its balance is enough to convey its ...

just to talk about its balance is to convey its...

__________

no doubt, you can think of plenty more (and neater!) along these lines. hth! Carol

If I think of anything more elegant, I'll get back
