I'm getting a bit confused now between 'boceto', 'borrón', 'croquis' and 'apunte'!!!! Think I'll pack it in for tonight :-)

Una vez que tenemos varias ideas, pasaremos a la ejecución de los bocetos para poder plasmarlas físicamente en el papel, de manera que puedan ser apreciadas en la realidad; esto es lo que se conoce con el nombre de boceto.

Inicialmente tendremos que realizar un **croquis** del espacio donde vamos a trabajar. Un **croquis*** es un apunte en el que se expresan las medidas de la superficie donde se va a trabajar, y al que se irán añadiendo, a escala, los elementos más importantes.

@ Multitran Why have you changed the classification of the question to 'Non-pro'? If it were that straightforward I would only have received one suggestion with lots of 'agrees'. There are many words in Spanish that can mean 'sketch' for example (Croquis, boceto and apunte are 3 of these) but obviously there are differences between them, depending on the context in which they are used. If it's that obvious why haven´t you submitted your own suggestion or agreed with one of those already posted???

sketch Just to say that in my text I also have 'boceto', which I posted in an earlier question, and plan to use 'sketch' as a translation for this, so I can´t really use the same for 'croquis' - they must be different things in some way. Here's soem more text that mentions 'croquis':

Medidas del espacio
A la hora de realizar un escaparate, la primera limitación consiste en tener que ceñirse al espacio existente. Tendremos que hacer un análisis y estudio del hueco, en orden a los siguientes aspectos:

- Materiales arquitectónicos (piedra, madera, etc.).

- Medidas del hueco (ancho, alto y profundidad).

- Escaparate interior y exterior.

- Disposición y forma de acceso a la tienda.

- Orientación (Norte, Sur, Este y Oeste).

- Cristaleras (medidas y colocación).

- Presencia de toldos y pantallas.

- Posibilidades de iluminación (enchufes, puntos de luz y lámparas).

Una vez anotados todos estos datos sobre un ***croquis***, se realizará un plano a escala, con todos los datos de interés que puedan detallarse, para poder trabajar sobre él.

Haha... I see what you mean about being confused between 'boceto', 'borrón', 'croquis' and 'apunte' alright! I was about to start researching one of the options, until I saw all the others, and thought - Night!! (sorry, that wasn't a particularly helpful comment...)

Thanks Nick, as far as I know, Croquis is "layout", and sketch; "boceto"- at least that's how I've seen the two terms used during my last 30 years as a designer. Saludos! eski

I think this is what this kind of "croquis" is normally called. It is a kind of diagram with measurements, onto which scaled down versions of objects can be placed or moved about.
