English translation: Turn something into an advantage

French term or phrase: capitalisation

I have to say I'm pretty hazy about what the source term means in the first place — and I'm completely flummoxed as to how to express it in EN!

Sometmes, I've seen it used where 'leveraging' could be used in EN; but I'm not so sure about that here. It seems to me that they are talking about 'learning lessons from experience' (so a bit like 'retour d'expérience' really), but I'm a little unsure when they then say that this is 'organized' by certain people in particular. BTW, it has to be said that some of the FR writing is pretty dodgy in the first place...

I'd appreciate help first of all in understanding the source term usage properly, and secondly, in finding a neat way to express that in EN.

Fondé sur les principes d’anticipation et de réactivité, le management des risques de [name of service provider] repose sur l’organisation suivante :

Définition des indicateurs de criticité et de seuils d’alertes,

Mise en place de procédures de recherche de solutions protectrices et d’escalade,

Application des processus de prise de décision et mise en œuvre des solutions,

Mesure du retour à la normal et capitalisation.

Le Responsable de Projet est en charge du management des risques associés au [name of project] projet.

La capitalisation est organisée avec le support de la Direction Qualité et du RSSI.

Previous glossary entries I've found seem to relate to the more usual usage in finance — I rather get the impression that this has become something of a buzz-word now in management-speak

I confirm your idea that it's to "learn from experience". I think they are using "capitalisation" as the English term "to capitalize from a situation"
