búsqueda is not a good word That is, don't read it literally. There is a reason why they are not called "search tables" in English. Look-up tables are not for finding things, they are for getting things stored at known locations. The most ubiquitous example of that is the ASCII code table. Another example is the colour look-up table in your computer monitor. Look-up tables are otherwise known as "maps" or "connectors". They map the elements of one set into those of another. Note how your first example refers to "información externa"; apparently in this context, the table in question stores pointers to an external data store.

Those other terms you have found are the names of the real "search tables"-- the data structures requiring iteration or other simple algorithms to be executed in order to find an item.
