agree  Mr Murray (X): Surgery of the abdomen or thorax ... concentrating on the major internal organs (as opposed to bones, muscle, etc). Not limited to intestines, liver and stomach - but can include the heart. Without any more detail - 'visceral surgery' - well done

disagree  Mr Murray (X): 'viseral surgery' often has to do with internal organs of the abdomen region - true, but is not limited to the abdomen region. And abdominal surgery is not limited to internal organs. I don't understand why 'viseral surgery' is insufficient as an answer.

Explanation:

disagree  Mr Murray (X): Your explanation references indeed describe general surgery, but do nothing to connect or limit them to 'viseral surgery'. 'visceral surgery' obviously exists as a category, is obviously the translation of 'chirurgia viscerale.'

-> Sorry, Mr M, I disagree. I am a general surgeon myself and can tell you for sure that there is no branch of surgery called 'visceral surgery' in English. Please read my references again, esp. the 2nd one. Web ref for "visceral surgery" are non-native.
