I fear that, as often happens in this forum, people have become rather attached to their ideas of right and wrong in language. This is not at all constructive. Nor does it help the asker. A visceral response based on what one feels one knows can be just plain wrong, if not as in this case simply an opinion based on what many have used in translated contexts. As the asker, I look for 3 things. 1. Does it sound right to my native speaker ear? 2, Has the answer come from someone who has experience and an authoritative source? and 3. Does the term fit the context? It is my choice, as the final arbiter of what work I wish to present to my client. Arguing over a term such as this one not only wastes the time of many, but could create visceral doubts in some less sure of themselves than I.
I have chosen, based on my basic criteria. Why belabor the point? It doesn't help me, and it surely doesn't help others who use this service, as it creates confusion. If someone doesn't like the term translation, they can ask again or find an alternative. But disagreeing outright for the sake of argument rather than discussing seems simply immature, in my humble opinion. Thanks for all of your comments
