Course de rétraction

French to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks colonne de direction de v
Good afternoon,

L’invention propose une colonne de direction réglable au moins axialement et apte à absorber l’énergie générée sur toute la course de rétraction du tube-corps, et dont le nombre de pièces est réduit.

My translation :

The invention aims to remedy to the issues of the aforementioned prior art by proposing an adjustable steering column at least axially and able to absorb the energy generated on the entire retraction course/stroke of the tubular body, and whereof the number of pieces is reduced.

Louisa Tchaicha (asker) Nov 9, 2010:
stroke Would "retraction stroke" be incorrect in this context? I'm dubious because "stroke" seems to be specific to pistons...

@Stéphanie Soudais Merci c'est noté :)
Noni Gilbert Riley Nov 8, 2010:
Ah Stéphanie had already dealt with it!

Probably a bit late by now, but there should be.. ...a CLOSE button somewhere around.

@aceavila - Noni Ah thank you I'm sorry, I did not know that, how do I delete a post?
Noni Gilbert Riley Nov 5, 2010:
Category I've edited so that the categories are more accurate - if you repost you need to delete the previous question but in this case we don't to do that because you've already got an answer. So I suggest you delete your reposted question.

@ AllegroTrans thank you I will re-post it

You need to post this is an engineering question

movement

In this context 'movement' is probably the word. This decribes the complete cycle of the tube in question, whether it be 2 or 4-stroke. Indeed, 'cycle' might also fit.

So my translation might read:

"...creating an axially-adjustable steering column capable of absorbing the energy generated by the entire movement of the outer tube, and thereby reducing the number of parts needed."

Yes, yes, retraction movement. I left out retraction by mistake.
Note from asker:
maybe "retraction movement"?
