: This is used profusely when the height of a dial indicator or comparator needs to be adjusted. Normally the lugs are welded to the split flange and provided with either bolts or screws , when tightened holds the flange in place.

From the context this would seem to be your best bet. They may not be screws exactly but their object is obviously to lock or tighten. The word 'flange' is perhaps better in the context but I see you have used it already.
