French term
des photos valorisantes
French to English
Marketing
General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
This is from a magazine for a car manufacturer, and aims to instruct dealers how to improve their business selling this brand of cars. One part focuses on shooting photos of cars and how to take good photos to increase sales. This phrase occurs a few times.
One time is:
L’arrière-plan d’une prise de vue est un élément clé dans la réalisation d’une photo valorisante.
I understand from the text that 'valorisante' in this context means roughly that the photo will enhance the brand image, will be of value to the dealer, and add value to the product. Is there any good way of saying this in English? Thanks!

for a compelling shot (here)
in context it could be put this way. Here's someone giving advice about this very subject!
"How To Photograph Your Car
. I’ve been a member of the BMW Car Club of Ottawa since 1997 and gotten to know many auto enthusiasts and amateur snappers, so it was a great opportunity to share vision, creativity and tips and tricks.
What exactly are some of the things to watch for? There are the usuals such as background distractions, dissecting lines and poles or trees sticking out of rooflines. Other gotchas related to cars are unwanted reflections, including your own, windows overly reflective or not as the desire may be and distracting stuff on the car: stickers, license plates, holes, dirt and more.
Making a car photo compelling requires a few considerations: shoot no lower than the lowest part of the body, or shoot from headlight/wheel hub height or driver height. If none of these provide a compelling shot, then go high. Simply put: do not do the ‘walk-up’ shot.

French term (edited):
photo valorisante
'added-value' photo
I don't know if there is any one official term for this in the industry.
I think this could be one way of translating it, though I don't think it would bear too-frequent repetition!
You might also perhaps be able to ring the changes, in appropriate instances, by using something like 'a successful marketing photo'

Tony M
: I think that would be unwise here, as these days 'enhanced photos' most often conjures up the idea of photos that have been retouched or otherwise played around with in Photoshop® etc. [Would need to be 'car-enhancing photos' LOL ! ]

eye-catching photographs
"... is a key element in making an arresting photograph", ie one for which the viewer pauses before turning the page. Of course, this is not a literal translation of "valorisant" (added value, as Tony says), but I think it conveys the idea. "Arresting" works too.

Sorry, the words got a bit mixed up in the first sentence. But take your pick. Even "a photograph that grabs the attention", etc.
