Manual for a hot water heater.

The client's reference material uses "blocked in stages" for "spärra", but I am thinking this may not be the correct term. It seems like "interlocked" or "locked" might be more appropriate in the sentences below:

"Elpatronen kan spärras i steg om 1,5kW för att kunna begränsa max inkopplad effekt."
"Vid aktivering av effektsteg hävs spärren automatiskt."

Anyone know the correct term in this case?

This is how I would express it. It sounds to me like one is deciding how much length of the immersion heater is activated (thus, IMHO, 'spärras' here = shut off), rather than anything to do with interlocking.
