German Data Protection Act
In a flow chart designed to help employees of a company decide what is and what is not personal data as per the data protection act, one box identifies information relating to Unternehmen, Sachen, Verstorbene as being non-personal. No problem with Unternehmen and Verstorbene here but how would you translate Sachen. Matters? States of Affairs? Objects?
Anyone familiar with the terminology of this legislation?

Probably question 7 is the relevant one:
"Does the data focus or concentrate on the individual as its central
theme rather than on some other person, or some object, transaction or event?"
I suspect that "Sachen" is simply "object" here, but more context would help...

I think it is meant in the sense of (non-physical) "Angelegenheiten", broader than objects/assets/property (which by definition are 'personal' things expressly ruled out).
Besides, it's inclusive enough to be interpreted any way you wish
