The emergence of Parisian French as a dialect with special status began in the thirteenth century, with the notion of langue maternelle changing from meaning the vernacular learnt at home to the new prestige variety spoken in Paris. Hors contexte, il s'agirait de perpétuer une croyance. Mais dans ce contexte-ci, il s'agit de renforcer, de pousser plus en avant, l'adhésion à une idéologie.
Je pense que l'idée de "croyance" peut être mise de côté dans ce contexte. Le mot important ici est "ideology", et le sujet est le français parisien standard... on adhère à son idéologie, mais je ne crois pas qu'on puisse "croire" ou "ne pas croire" à l'idéologie du français parisien standard.

Il peut paraître étonnant de traduire "ideology"par "principe" c'est pourtant le concept qui s'applique ici : il ne s'agit pas d'accréditer une norme mais d'accréditer l'idée qu'une norme doit s'imposer au moment historique de la naissance d'une nation "prospère et puissante", d'après le texte.

: Que vous avez fait avancer, plus encore, le débat, il n'y a pas de doute.(tout comme Gauthier) Le rapport est celui du statut de Paris et la langue de France. Les variantes sont multiples... "a accentué l'adhésion à la norme" pas le principe d'une norme

: Je crois que l'adhésion a succédé à l'accréditation. Quant au reste, qui cite Milroy & Milroy a retenu le littéral "idéologie du standard", mais dans les textes antérieurs, on relève plutôt concept/principe + on distingue standard/norme/normatif
