Italian term

rispetto alla collocazione

Italian to English Art/Literary Philosophy academic paper on theology

I have been given the freedom by the client to simplify and render the long-winded and wordy Italian style-some sentances are 2 paragraphs long!!

My try:

it is also, however, a key text/work on the subject of asceticism and may be placed amonsgst the most important thinkers of post-Hegelian Protestant theology.

Any help welcome and appreciated-UK target

rispetto a I think my doubts are due to the plausible meanings of rispetto a in the context. compared with OR among OR with regards to. Maybe the 3rd is most plausible. The text in question is Das Wesen des Christentums by Adolf von Harnack and the work dates to 1900. Hhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_von_Harnack

in regards to the position taken

... but also represents a key/major text, on the subject of asceticism, in regards to the position taken by an important part of the post-Hegelian Protestant theological thinking/theory.

This is the way I see it.

Thank you contesei.
agree James (Jim) Davis : Definitely. You could put stance, views, but the meaning doesn't change.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "thanks-this is what fits best in the context as it is in fact a comparative study and the author is trying to trace the history of the concept"

in terms of bringing together

The couple of Italian-English dictionaries I looked at just gave "place" or "arrange". But the English-Italian reference below gives "bring together", which fits the context perfectly.

Your translation isn't quite right. I believe it means "bringing together an important part of post-Hegelian protestant thinking on the subject of asceticism."

Sorry, I left out "theological".

In answer to your additional question, no, that's not how I understand it. It means that the book brings together the thoughts of many different authors.
Note from asker:
could be...in the sense that the work helps one to 'place' an important chunk of thinking on the subject? To make sense of where it comes from?
Thanks for your research Phil

neutral James (Jim) Davis : Devoto Oli "Collocazione ... Fig. Posizione caratterizzante in uno schieramento (ideologico o politico) o in una classificazione ideale di contenuti: come politico non ha una precisa c.// IMHO that is not an equally valid dic ref. DO is near gospel.

Yes, but I've provided an equally valid dictionary reference that says something different. It's possible that the Italian is ambiguous.
