. يسمّي العلماء حالة السكون المطبق الذي نغطس فيه بفراغ ما دون الصوت البشري , أو بفراغ (صه) , حيث (صه) تساوي القيمة (صفر) لأية ذبذبة صوتية مهما كانت حدتها , إذا تجاوز مداها السمعي بوصات قليلة . إن أوطأ كلمة في فراغ (صه) يمكن أن تحدث انهياراً جبلياً في أصلب الصخور إذا ما انفلتت في الفضاء الكبير . ولكن هذه الكلمة تُسمع في حدود المسافة السمعية القصيرة لأذن الشخص المقصود باستقبالها .
