From Lesson 77 of Pope’s First Lessons in Tamil (p. 125 of the e-book):
நீ அவர்களுக்கு நான் சொன்னதாகச் சொல்ல வேண்டிய தென்னவென்றால்.
It is an example sentence, so I’m afraid there is no context.

I am totally perplexed by this word “தென்னவென்றால்”. What individual words is this compound word made up of?
