I. Clark Case Distinguished Chair Explanation: You must leave it as it is. This is common. It means his salary is paid from a trust fund named "I. Clark Chase Distinguished Chair" to honor the memory of Chase. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2017-06-13 05:57:18 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Correction - *Case ... to honor the memory of Case.* -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2017-06-13 05:59:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Also, "I. Clark Case Distinguished Chair" is McEvoy's official title which you cannot change. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2017-06-13 06:07:42 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Maybe I misunderstood your question. It says Russian to English. Are you asking for English to Russian? In that case, I don't know, except that chair probably is not профессор. It's probably something more like профессорство. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2017-06-13 07:29:42 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Think of it like this: Case gave the university the money for an I.C. Case Distinguished Chair, or someone gave the money to honor Case. As a result, the university can pay someone like McEvoy to OCCUPY the Distinguiished Chair. McEvoy is not necessarily distinguished and he is not a Председатель. He is a профессор, the I.C. Case Distinguished Chair профессор. I don't know how to translate chair but it's not Chairman/Председатель. It means, McEvoy's office or position, or the money or the endowment that pays McEvoy's salary. Maybe Cиденье Кейс or Место Кейс. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2017-06-13 07:31:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://www.augusta.edu/faculty/directory/view.php?id=JMCEVOY -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 hrs (2017-06-13 12:59:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Tак, уже понятно, но английский на русский мне труднее! |
