the morning post, question on old newspapers Morning Post Explanation: La interpreto in questo modo: il testo recita "he was wont to read his letters, and the Morning Post, for he had always be a Tory, and could not stomach to pay a halfpenny for his news.”che più o meno sarebbe "aveva l'abitudine di leggere la corrispondenza e il Morning Post, in quanto essendo stato sempre un Tory, non poteva sopportare/digerire il fatto di dover pagare anche un solo mezzo penny per leggere le (ultime) notizie". Forse si riferisce al fatto che il giornale era gratuito per gli iscritti ai Tory e quindi non sopportava l'idea di dover pagare anche un solo mezzo penny per leggere un altro giornale. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 ora (2019-01-19 16:39:42 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- No, è solo un'ipotesi la mia. |
